General

What are the benefits of attending CoLang?

Is CoLang and in-person event?

Yes. All workshops, practica and other programming will take place in-person in Phoenix, Arizona. 

Workshops will be held at Arizona State University (ASU) in Tempe during the first two weeks of CoLang (June 3 - 14).

Practica will be held at Scottsdale Community College (SCC) located on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian community during the second two weeks of CoLang (June 17 - 28).

I am from outside the United States. Can I still attend CoLang?

Yes! Participants from other countries are always welcome at CoLang. Please email us at colang2024@gmail.com to let us know if you need an invitation letter to start the visa process for your country.

I am not a student. Can I still attend CoLang?

Yes! CoLang is for anybody (18+) who are working or interested in working in the field of collaborative language research, language documentation and revitalization, and language reclamation. 

Is there a minimum age requirement to attend CoLang?

Yes, you must be at least 18 years old to attend CoLang 2024.

Do I need to be a member of the Linguistics Society of America (LSA) or other organization to attend CoLang? 

You do not need to join the Linguistics Society of America (LSA) unless you are applying for a fellowship from the LSA.

Registration

How do I register for CoLang?

We have reached capacity and registration for CoLang 2024 is now closed! Please visit the registration page for more details.

CoLang registration can be completed through our online portal up until we reach capacity. You will use the portal to sign up for CoLang, pay registration, and purchase (optional) housing and meal plans for your stay in Phoenix.

Can I attend just the practica session of CoLang?

No. All CoLang participants must at least attend the two-week workshop session of CoLang. If you want to also attend the practica session, you will need to register for the four-week workshop + practica session. 

Travel

Flying

We recommend flying into Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport (PHX). The Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport is located roughly 6 miles west of ASU.
